Kid's party bread sculptures won't hold their oven shape
I made dough shaped like animals for my kid's party. They look good before baking, but go flat in the oven. How do I stop them from losing shape?

For "go flat in the oven," my friend fixed it by using a stiffer dough and less proofing.

My buddy Mark made some turtle shaped bread for his daughter's class party. They looked perfect on the tray but spread into weird pancakes after baking. He learned the hard way that his dough was too soft and he left them to rise too long. His wife told him to add extra flour until it felt stiff, and to only let them proof for about fifteen minutes. The next batch kept their shape well enough to tell they were turtles. He said it was mostly about using less water and watching the clock.
