A mom said my fades looked 'choppy' on her kid's school picture day

She showed me the photo and I saw what she meant, the blend wasn't smooth at all. I started using my clippers with the lever half-open for the first pass instead of all the way closed. Anyone got other tips for a cleaner transition on tight curls?

That half-open lever trick is a solid start for sure. What guard system are you using right now? Sometimes the actual guard design makes a huge difference on really tight curl patterns. Also, are you going over the blend line with a trimmer or just relying on the clipper?

Going over the blend line with a trimmer" sounds like a fancy way to ask if I'm living on the edge. I'm definitely using one, because my clipper work alone looks like a topographical map of the Rockies. A little cleanup is non-negotiable.
