Vent: Forgot to vent a pressure vessel before cutting
I was removing a section from an old water tank and didn't bleed off all the residual pressure first. The cut started fine, but then a burst of steam shot out and nearly scalded my hand. Luckily, I had my gloves on, but it scared me good. What's your go-to method to double-check everything is safe before cutting into sealed units?

Yikes, that sounds scary! I'm really glad you had your gloves on and didn't get hurt. Stuff like that can shake you up bad, even if nothing happens. For checking pressure, I always try to crack a valve or fitting open slowly first, just to be sure. It's a good habit to get into, idk, maybe it's just me but I double-check everything twice now.

Smart move, @xenam76! Cracking valves slowly saved me from a messy leak last week. When I was working on my car's AC line, I cracked the valve and heard a hiss, so I knew to be careful. I always wear safety glasses too, just in case. That double-check habit really does make a difference!
