inUpdate: My storm damage call yesterday made me question the always no-spikes approach. It was safer and faster for that tree.
It's funny how @val281's story shows we often stick to our opinions until life hands us a new view... I see this all the time with small things, like folks who swear they hate a food until they try it made a different way. Real experience has a way of shifting what we think we know.

inUpdate: Three-way switch wiring had me stumped until I drew it out
Honestly after reading willow_robinson's method I'd just add one thing. We all get fried staring at the same wires. I force myself to walk away for five minutes before the final check, comes back clear every time.

inThat rifle failure at the range flipped my take on chamber finishes
Remember, polishing can alter headspace even by hand if you overdo it lol.

inJust realized the new retail strip is using brick veneer over steel frames
Honestly that rust worry feels a bit overblown. Modern steel frames are galvanized and have proper moisture barriers behind the brick. It's a standard system now, not really cutting corners if it's done right. This method lets buildings go up faster without sacrificing the brick look people want. Seen plenty of structures hold up just fine this way. It's more about smart building science than being cheap.

inHung a pegboard and now all my tools are on the floor, great job me
Hey, did you check what kind of wall you put it into? I made that mistake once hanging one on just drywall without the right anchors. If it's not in a stud or using proper drywall anchors, the whole thing will just pull right out with the weight.
