Our group in Phoenix argued for an hour about whether a character in 'The Silent Patient' was actually insane
We were supposed to discuss themes, but one person kept insisting the twist proved she was faking it the whole time, which derailed everything. It got so heated that our usual moderator just sat there silent for like 15 minutes. Has your club ever had a debate that completely took over the meeting?

We almost came to blows over whether the boat in "Life of Pi" was a metaphor or just a boat. It stopped being a book club and turned into a bad philosophy lecture for forty minutes. I still get annoyed thinking about it.

Remember that scene in "Gone Girl" where she's framing her husband? Our club spent a whole meeting arguing if she was a genius or just a total psycho, and it got so bad the host banned crime novels for six months.
