My $80 orchid mister was a total waste of money

Honestly, I bought this fancy brass mister online because the listing said it was perfect for orchids. Tbh, it just sprays huge droplets that sit on the leaves and cause rot. My old $5 spray bottle from the hardware store gives a much finer mist. Has anyone else had a tool that was supposed to help your plants but actually made things worse?

Remember buying a ceramic watering spike that was supposed to self water my plants while I was on vacation. Came home to a drowned spider plant and a bone dry cactus right next to it. The thing just poured all the water out at once. Sometimes the simple stuff just works better.

Those ceramic spikes work on a vacuum principle, so @angela_shah8, the water release is actually based on soil dryness. Your spider plant's soil was probably too dense, holding water and creating a constant vacuum that drained the bottle. The cactus mix dried out fast and broke the vacuum, so it got nothing. It's less about a faulty pour and more about matching the spike to the right soil type.

Yeah, I got one of those fancy glass misters with the fancy pump. Looked great on the shelf. It basically just hoses down the plant like a tiny fire extinguisher. Leaves were soaked for hours. My cheap plastic bottle from under the sink gives this perfect little cloud. Feels like half the gardening stuff is just for looks.
