My washing machine died last Thursday and I fixed it myself with a $12 belt
Pulled the thing apart in my basement in Buffalo and swapped the drive belt in an hour after watching a YouTube video. Has anyone else tackled a major appliance repair instead of just calling a repair guy?

Respect to you for taking that on yourself.

Nah, I actually see it the opposite way. Most people are too scared to take responsibility for their own decisions, so they wait for someone else to fix things. You gotta own your choices, even when they're hard.

You said "you gotta own your choices" and I feel that. But here's the thing that trips me up. Some choices aren't really choices when you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, you know? Like if someone is working two jobs just to keep the lights on, that's not really the same as choosing to buy a new TV instead of saving. I guess I just think we gotta be careful not to act like everyone's playing with the same deck of cards. Owning your choices matters, sure, but sometimes the deck is stacked against you from the start.
