Was it the weird shadows or the total lack of furniture that gave it away? Honestly, some rental photos look so grim they should come with a warning from the police... I've seen listings where the only light is from a bare bulb and it feels like you're about to get questioned. Maybe they're going for that minimalist look but they just hit creepy instead. You gotta at least open the curtains before you take the picture, man.

The bare bulb thing is real, but honestly the worst I saw was a kitchen with a single plate and fork in the sink. Like they staged a meal for one and then left. It wasn't minimalist, it was just sad. I feel like some landlords take the pictures themselves at night with a phone flash. That harsh light makes every empty corner look like a crime scene.
