Friend told me to stop reading 1-star reviews first. He was right.
I used to always sort by lowest rating to see the worst complaints before buying anything. A buddy who runs a hardware store told me that messes with your head because most 1-star reviews are from people who messed up, not bad products. I switched to reading 3 and 4 star reviews first for balance and my last 3 tool purchases worked out great. Has anyone else noticed the 1-star crowd just has bad luck or user error a lot of the time?

Same thing happened to me with a drill I almost didn't buy. Read the three star reviews and it turned out the one star complaints were all people using the wrong bits.

Yeah that's a fair point, but three star reviews can be just as hit or miss sometimes. I mean, if someone gave a drill three stars because it was "heavy" but it's a corded model that's supposed to have power, that's not really a helpful review either. You still gotta read between the lines I guess.
