Unpopular opinion: I swore off battery lanterns, but a raccoon incident proved me wrong.

I always thought they were too bright and annoying. Watching one scare off a curious raccoon trying to get into our food bag changed my view completely.

Lol, how close did you place the lantern to the food?

You asked how close the lantern was to the food, but I see it another way. We kept it on a different table a few feet away. The light was soft and didn't heat anything up. The photo might make it look closer because of the angle. Honestly, the food was fine and stayed cool.

Yeah I always thought you had to keep lights super far away too. But @young.reese has a point about angles making stuff look different. I did a shoot last week with a lamp on a stool next to the table, and in the pics it looks like it's right in the salad. But the bowl was cold the whole time. Makes me rethink how I set things up.
