Overheard a coworker say they use their sick days for mental health calls

I was grabbing coffee at the break room last Tuesday when Linda from accounting said she calls in sick once a month just to stare at her ceiling and reset. She looked dead serious and nobody even blinked. Are people actually doing this or did I just wander into some secret corporate wellness cult?

Three o'clock in the afternoon last Thursday I had a full-on panic attack in the supply closet because the printer wouldn't stop beeping... turns out it was just jammed from all the paper I shoved in there. I called in sick the next day just to lay in bed and watch trash TV. I'm not saying Linda's onto something, but I've done it three times since then and my brain feels less like scrambled eggs afterward. It's kind of like a mental health sick day but I still tell myself it's for a migraine or something so I don't feel guilty... even though I'm just resetting. Maybe we all need a ceiling-staring day once a month honestly.

Ugh, the ceiling-staring day is 100% a thing. @avery_foster31 the scrambled eggs comparison is way too real, I had a whole week last month where I just stared at my wall and watched the same three episodes of a reality show on repeat.
