Pro tip: I started blocking off 30 minutes every Friday to write down what I did that week, and it changed my yearly review
I saw this idea on a blog about 6 months ago and thought it was silly, but I set a calendar reminder anyway. Every Friday at 3:30 PM, I open a simple doc and just bullet point the big things I finished, any problems I solved, and even small wins like helping a coworker. I don't make it fancy. When my boss asked for my self-review input last month, I had a full list of maybe 40 things from the whole year, with dates and details. I didn't have to scramble to remember. My boss was really impressed and said it made her job way easier, and we ended up talking about stuff I had totally forgotten about. It took maybe 10 weeks for it to feel normal, but now it's just part of my routine. Has anyone else tried a simple habit like this that ended up paying off way more than you thought it would?

My old boss at a tech startup made us do weekly "brag docs" and I hated it at first. But after I left, having that list of projects and wins made updating my resume so much easier, like I had proof of what I actually did. It's weird how writing stuff down stops imposter syndrome too, because you can see your own progress. I still keep a simple list now even though nobody asks for it, just for myself.

My brag doc would just say "showed up" most weeks, @william407.
