Just realized using a cheap plastic putty knife to spread glue is way better than a fancy spreader

Tbh, I was doing a glue-up for some oak cabinet doors last week and my notched spreader broke. I grabbed a 99 cent plastic scraper from the paint aisle and it laid the Titebond III down perfect with no mess. Has anyone else found a weird tool that works better than the 'right' one?

Honestly, gift cards can leave tiny plastic bits in the epoxy.

Totally saw a woodworking video where the guy swore by using a plastic gift card for spreading epoxy. He said the flexibility gets it into corners better than a stiff metal spreader. Makes sense if you think about it, those things are basically free disposable tools.
