My kid said 'it's just telling the computer what to do' about my Python script and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I was stuck on a loop for two hours and my 8-year-old looked at the screen and said that, which made me realize I was overcomplicating everything and just needed to write the steps down first.

Honestly, that's the best way to look at it. We get so wrapped up in patterns and best practices that we forget the core task. Your kid nailed it. The hard part isn't the telling, it's figuring out what exactly needs to be said.

Remember reading that programmers often talk to a rubber duck to explain their code? Your kid did that for you without the duck.
