Shoutout to the free Harvard CS50 course I thought was overhyped

I was sure a free online class couldn't teach me real coding, but after finishing the first two weeks, I built a simple text-based game in C. What other free resources actually live up to the hype for a total beginner?

CS50 is great for that hands on start... but the real magic for me was finding a project I actually cared about. I tried a dozen courses that bored me, then just decided to build a simple website for my aunt's small bakery. Following the Mozilla Developer Network guides while actually making something real... that's what finally made it click. The free tutorials there don't get talked about enough for beginners. You learn by fixing your own broken code, not just doing exercises for a grade.

Honestly, that's so true about MDN. I'd just add that CS50's problem sets are basically real projects too, they just give you the idea first.

Ugh, my first project was a hot mess.
