Finally got my morning pour-over time under 3 minutes

For months, my morning routine was a slow 4 to 5 minute pour. The coffee was fine, but it always felt like a drag. Last week, I switched from my gooseneck kettle to a cheaper, faster-boiling one from the grocery store, just to see. I also started grinding my beans a tiny bit coarser. The first try was a mess, way too fast. But after three mornings of tweaking, I hit a sweet spot. Now, from boiling water to a full cup, it's a clean 2 minutes and 45 seconds. The taste is brighter, and I'm not rushing out the door. Has anyone else found that a faster pour changed their brew for the better?

Ever notice how the simple fixes work best?

That's a cool point about the grind size. A faster pour with a coarser grind can actually help avoid over-extracting the bitter stuff at the end. It's like the water doesn't hang around too long to pull out the bad flavors. My old cheap drip machine basically did a super fast pour, and the coffee was never that bitter. Maybe there's something to speed that we overlook when we focus on being slow and precise.

Honestly my French press is just a two-minute steep.
