Wasted $80 on a fancy coffee grinder that was a total flop

I bought that ceramic burr hand grinder everyone raves about and after three weeks the handle snapped off. Now I'm back to using my old $20 blade grinder from the grocery store. Has anyone else had bad luck with those expensive manual grinders?

Oh man, that's rough. I had almost the exact same thing happen with mine. Got all excited about the "perfect grind consistency" and then the plastic adjustment dial just gave up on life after a month. Now I'm back to my old blade grinder that sounds like a dying lawnmower and gives me a mix of powder and whole beans. At least that one cost me twelve bucks and has outlived three relationships. I guess I'm just not fancy enough for manual grinding. My forearms clearly lack the necessary artisan coffee shop certification.

Read somewhere that those plastic parts are actually designed to fail. They want you to buy a whole new grinder or upgrade to a metal one. My old blade grinder sounds like it's going to take off into space but at least it's got no plastic junk to break.
