My apprentice argued we should stop using a bull float on every single pour
He said on a small 10x10 patio last week, just using a magnesium straightedge and a fresno gave a better finish with less risk of pulling fines up. Has anyone else tried skipping the bull float for smaller jobs?

Your apprentice might be onto something... overworking small slabs is a real risk.
