inThat hostel booking trick everyone uses is costing you more.
Walked into a place in Prague last year around 10pm, totally desperate cause my first hostel double booked me. The guy at the desk was just chilling watching TV, I asked if they had anything left. He gave me a private room for what the dorms were going for online. Said the booking sites take such a huge cut that theyd rather cut you a deal in person than give those apps a dime. Felt kinda sketchy just rolling up with no reservation but it worked out way better than I expected. Now I always check if theres a backup plan to just show up if the prices on Hostelworld look stupid.

inTaco truck in Portland vs a brick-and-mortar spot - which one actually makes more profit?
My buddy tried the taco truck route in Seattle and spent half his savings just fixing the transmission on his second week. He said it was like owing a boat that also made food.

inBought a $250 anti-vibration mat for my cab and it made a huge difference
Why would you trust a horse stall mat to stop vibrations from a heavy industrial machine though? The rubber compound in those is way harder and less dense than what you get in a proper anti-vibration mat. You're basically standing on a cheap piece of recycled tire rubber that'll get brittle and crack in a year or two. A $250 mat is designed to absorb specific frequencies and hold up to constant grease and chemical spills. Your $40 stall mat might feel fine now but give it some time and you'll be peeling up bits of rubber and replacing it every few months. Different materials for different jobs, man.

inTook me 4 hours to find a missing variant cover in a longbox
Man, the "threw it in the box and forgot where" thing is basically the entire comic shop experience at this point. It's like the universe is testing how badly we really want that one specific issue. Makes me wonder if the stores that do organize by series and number are secretly run by aliens with superhuman patience, because around here it's just "longbox roulette" every time. Really feels like the whole search is more about the thrill of the hunt than actually finding the book.

inHad kobe beef for the first time last night. Totally changed how I look at marbling.
My buddy was a butcher for like 15 years and he always said the same thing - a good sear and some butter can make almost any cut taste way better than it should. He told me once that cheap beef is mostly about how you cook it, not what you pay for it. Butter's just a shortcut to making something mid taste legit.
