Finally figured out why my bleach baths were drying out scalps

I used to just eyeball the ratio of bleach to water when doing scalp treatments, and clients were always complaining about irritation. After reading a dermatology study last month, I started measuring exactly 1 part bleach to 4 parts water and timing it to 2 minutes max. Has anyone else found a specific ratio that works better for sensitive skin?

Has anyone else had clients react badly even with that ratio? I've been doing 1:5 for really sensitive scalps and it seems to help with the drying. Timing is everything though, even a few seconds over can mess things up.

Mixed it with a drop of aloe vera gel once for a client with chemical burns. That was a risk I wouldn't take again, the aloe reacted with the developer and turned into a sticky mess. Learned the hard way that adding anything to the mix can change the pH and cause unpredictable results. Now I just stick with the 1:5 and a timer set to 20 seconds max for those sensitive ones.

1:4 gave me way more irritation than 1:5 honestly.
