My writing prompt notebook got soaked at a cafe in Denver

I was working on a list of sci-fi prompts when my coffee tipped over... the ink ran and blurred everything. I spent the next hour trying to rewrite what I could remember from the soggy pages. Has anyone salvaged a ruined notebook before?

Totally ruined a notebook once and thought it was gone for good. I used to believe you had to save every original page. Then I spilled water on a journal and the weird smudges actually sparked better ideas when I tried to rewrite them. Now I see a ruined notebook as a forced edit, a chance to make the old thoughts clearer or even better. Sometimes losing the exact words makes you find better ones.

But isn't that just making a virtue out of a mess? I've had notes get wrecked before and half the time I can't even remember what the original point was. It feels less like a creative spark and more like starting over from scratch.
