Always thought two-factor authentication was overkill until my Gmail got hit last month

I was super skeptical about 2FA for years, thinking it was just a hassle for no reason. But after someone tried logging into my account from Nigeria at 3am, I finally set it up and now I can't believe I waited so long. Anyone else have a moment where a security measure you doubted turned out to be a lifesaver?

yeah I get why people like it but honestly I still think it's overblown for most folks. like yeah getting a login attempt from Nigeria is sketchy but if you use a strong password and don't reuse it everywhere you're probably fine. the hassle of typing in a code every time you sign in just feels like more friction than it's worth for the average person.

Did you see what happened to my buddy Mark? He thought the same thing, strong password and all, and someone got into his email last month. Had to spend a whole weekend cleaning up his accounts and resetting passwords.
