Appreciation post: 2FA via authenticator app vs. text message codes

After having my phone number stolen through a SIM swap attack last year, I had to switch everything over to an authenticator app. What a mess that was. But now I realize how much safer apps are compared to SMS codes. Text messages can just be redirected by someone at your carrier. Apps stay on your device. Has anyone else dealt with the hassle of switching after a SIM swap?

Read a scary stat that 90% of SIM swap victims had no idea it happened until it was too late.

My buddy had his coinbase account drained from a SIM swap and it took him months to get his money back. I get why people like text codes for convenience but once you see how easy it is for someone to grab your number you'll switch fast.
