Last Tuesday I got hit with 47 phishing emails in one shift and it broke my brain

Honestly I work in IT for a school district in Ohio and last week was just insane. Someone got ahold of an old vendor list and started blasting our staff with fake login pages. I had to reset 30 passwords in 4 hours because people kept clicking. The worst part was one teacher fell for it twice in the same day after I already told her. Has anyone else had a day where the phishing volume just went crazy like that?

Man, 47 emails in one shift? That sounds bad but honestly I bet half of them went straight to spam and you just saw the subject lines in the preview. People act like every phishing attempt is some master hacker when really most of them are garbage with obvious typos and weird domains. And the teacher who fell for it twice - that's on her, not the volume of emails. I've seen IT guys freak out over 10 emails like it's World War III but usually it's just basic common sense that stops 90 percent of this stuff. If your system is letting that many through to inboxes in the first place, maybe focus on your filters instead of blaming the attackers.

Yeah @milesrobinson, bad filters cause more problems than bad hackers.
