Took me 3 months to figure out my Wi-Fi was fighting with my monitor arm

I kept losing connection in these random cafes across Medellin. Changed SIM cards, bought a booster, blamed the cafe owners. Finally found out my laptop's Wi-Fi antenna was blocked by the metal arm of my portable monitor stand. Shoved it behind the screen to save desk space. Moved it out 4 inches and boom, full bars. Has anyone else had a stupid hardware conflict like this that had nothing to do with the actual internet?

Did you try moving it just a few inches first too?

Oh boy, yes I have been there. It's honestly kind of funny how stubborn some devices are about that extra inch. I swear my old router would only work if it was exactly 4.2 inches from the edge of my desk, no more no less. Moving it just a tiny bit really does seem to make a difference sometimes. I think it's because the signal bounces off walls and furniture in weird ways. Your mileage may vary but it's worth a shot if nothing else is working.
