Stop using cheap velcro ties for cable management - trust me on this one

I spent 6 months fighting with those cheap roll velcro strips from the dollar store under my desk. They kept losing grip after a week and all my cables would sag down onto my legs. Last month I finally bought a $12 roll of 3M branded hook and loop tape on Amazon and its night and day difference. The adhesive backing actually sticks to the underside of my desk and the velcro holds tight even when I swap out my monitor cables. Has anyone else had bad luck with the generic stuff?

Six months! Man, that is some real dedication to suffering right there. I can't believe you fought with dollar store velcro for half a year under your desk. My cheap strips lost their stick on day three and I threw them in the trash immediately. You must have been picking sticky residue off your cables for months too. The 3M stuff is seriously the only way to go, but I'm still shocked you lasted that long with the bad tape. Your legs must be so happy now that the cables aren't sagging on them anymore.

Start by wondering if we're making too big a deal about some velcro. I mean @lindahunt I get it, sticky stuff is annoying, but six months of suffering? Sounds a little dramatic. You threw them out on day three and that was the right call for you, but some people might just deal with it if they're lazy or busy. My cables hang down and I just shove them behind my monitor leg, no velcro at all. It's not like my legs are in constant pain from a loose wire, you know? Feels like we're acting like a bad cable setup is the same as a broken chair or something.
