I finally figured out why my paint kept peeling after 10 years of doing it wrong

I was painting my mom's porch last summer and she asked why I was using a brush for the whole thing. She handed me a 4 inch mini roller and told me to try it. Turns out all those years of brushstrokes were trapping moisture under the paint and causing it to bubble up every season. I had no idea the prep work mattered that much either... I always just washed it down with a hose. Anyone else have a moment where someone older showed you a simple trick that made everything click?

Oh man, that's a good tip about the roller! Though I gotta say, brushstrokes don't really trap moisture by themselves - it's usually more about not priming or using the wrong paint for the surface.

Wait, are you telling me I could've avoided my porch looking like a reptile skin collection all these years?
