I spent $180 on a smart thermostat and regret it completely

Everyone said go with the Nest or Ecobee to save money on heating bills. I put one in last winter and my electric bill actually went up by $20 the first month. The thing kept fighting my old baseboard system and never learned right. Anyone else ditch their smart thermostat and just go back to a regular programmable one?

Used to be one of those people who swore smart thermostats were the future. Then my buddy let me borrow his old Honeywell programmable after my Nest updated itself into a brick. That thing from 2012 just works better. No learning, no fighting with the system, just on and off at set times. My gas bill dropped $15 a month going back. Sometimes basic is better.
