Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who saw my tile spacers
He asked if I was doing a herringbone pattern, and when I said yes, he told me to use a 45-degree laser level instead of my chalk line. It took an extra $60, but the lines are perfect. Anyone have a cheaper method that actually works for a 10x12 bathroom floor?

My 8x10 laundry room herringbone was a nightmare until I borrowed a laser level, and @piperf40 is right about constantly checking your lines.

Is the laser level really necessary for a space that small? I've done a few herringbone floors and found that snapping a very sharp chalk line and using a long straightedge to check alignment as you go works fine. The key is to constantly step back and sight down the rows. That extra $60 could buy a lot of tile.
