Old timer told me to wet my mud bucket before mixing... he was right
A 30 year veteran on a site in Phoenix told me to always rinse my bucket with water before dumping joint compound in. I brushed it off for months until my mud kept drying out way too fast on the tray. Has anyone else tried this trick or got another weird tip from a seasoned guy?

Did you try spritzing the top of your mud bucket before you close it up too? That little bit of water on the surface keeps the crust from forming (total game changer for me with the hot weather). Also, if you're mixing by hand, a damp paddle helps the compound slide off way cleaner than a dry one.
