Spent years thinking my mud was drying too fast because of the heat

Turns out I was just mixing it way too thin. A guy on a Reno job saw my bucket and asked if I was making soup. Anyone else have a basic thing you messed up for way too long?

Yeah, I was sure my paint was going bad and turning clumpy. Then I watched a painter on a job site and realized I just wasn't stirring it enough first. Totally changed how I prep now.

My uncle swore his concrete was cracking because of cheap mix for two summers. The third year, I watched him pour and he wasn't wetting the ground first at all. Not sure a basic prep step really counts as a years-long mystery, you know?
