Finally fixed a flickering monitor I've had for 3 months by reflowing the main board with a $50 hot air station.

Reflowing is a solid fix for older electronics with bad solder joints. It's crazy how many things can be saved with just some heat and flux. You basically got a free monitor repair after that one-time tool buy.

Nah, I'm skeptical of that whole reflowing hype, @webb.derek. Half the time you just end up frying something else on the board or making the problem worse with all that heat. Seems like a quick fix that often just delays the real repair bill.
