Finally gave the 2-minute rule a real shot after months of ignoring it
I kept putting off small tasks like emptying the dishwasher or replying to a quick email, figuring I'd get to them later. Tried it for three days straight and my kitchen counter has been clear for the first time in a year. What's a tiny habit that actually stuck for you?

The real mindfuck with the 2 minute rule isn't the small tasks themselves. It's that once you start doing one tiny thing, your brain gets tricked into finishing the next thing and the next thing. I've found myself fully cleaning the bathroom just because I finally grabbed the toilet paper roll that fell behind the sink.

See, I gotta disagree with the "tricking your brain" part. That's not how it works for me at all. If I start one tiny thing, it's almost like my brain goes "alright, you did your one thing, good enough" and then I'm done for the day. I can grab the toilet paper roll and just leave the bathroom a mess because in my head, I completed the one task I set out to do. The 2 minute rule works great for getting that one specific thing done, but it doesn't turn into some magical domino effect where I clean everything. For some of us, the rule is just about not letting the small stuff pile up, not about launching into a whole cleaning frenzy.
