Wasted $60 on a fancy fermentation crock that cracked on first use

Bought this glazed ceramic crock from a homebrew shop in Portland last month. Looked great, had the water seal ring and everything. Set up my sauerkraut batch, weighed it down good, left it for 5 days. Went to check on it and found a hairline crack running from the rim down the side. All that brine leaked out onto my counter. Kraut was dry and moldy on top. Should have stuck with my old glass jars and a ziplock bag of brine. Anyone else had bad luck with those expensive crocks?

That sucks, man. I had the same thing happen with a $50 crock from a local shop, total waste of money.

Yeah I used to think cheap gear was fine too, but after getting burned on a few "bargains" I've changed my mind completely.
