My brand new moisture meter gave me a false reading on a $15k maple job

It said the slab was dry, but three weeks later the planks started cupping like crazy. Anyone got a brand they actually trust for hardwood over concrete?

Moisture meters only check one spot at one time. That slab could have had a wet area the pin didn't hit. I'd always do a calcium chloride test for a job that size.

Used to swear by my pin meter for everything. Your point about missing spots on a big slab... yeah, that's got me rethinking it now. Might have to start doing the calcium chloride thing for the larger floors.
