Walked into a house in Austin yesterday where they laid LVP over a hardwood floor with 1/2 inch gaps

The homeowner said the old floor was fine to just go over it. I pulled up a corner and saw daylight between the planks. Anyone else deal with customers insisting on skipping the prep work?

Man that reminds me of a buddy who tiled over a slab that had hairline cracks everywhere. Said he didn't want to waste time with crack isolation membrane. Two years later the whole floor looked like a puzzle.

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree with you a bit here. Sometimes skipping the prep is the only way to get the job done when the customer is paying the bills and they're set in their ways. I've had plenty of times where I warned them and they just shrugged. You can only do your best to explain it and then move on, even if it hurts your soul a little.
