Everyone swears by the new ceramic foam filters for our gray iron pours.

I ran a side by side test on a 2000 pound batch last month, and the old silicon carbide filters gave us a cleaner casting surface with fewer inclusions. The ceramic ones clogged faster under our specific pour rate, adding almost ten minutes to the cycle. Has anyone else seen this with high-volume ductile work?

Ten minutes longer? That's a huge difference.

Yeah, in a real emergency, ten minutes can be the line between a bad situation and a total loss. I've seen how quickly things can change when every second counts. It's not just about waiting, it's about what happens while you're waiting. That delay lets problems get way worse, way faster than people realize.
