PSA: A veteran caster told me my ladle angle was costing me metal and he was dead on

I was pouring a run of 50 bronze bushings last month and an old timer from the Toledo plant watched me for a minute. He said, 'Kid, you're tilting that ladle like you're pouring a beer, you're leaving a good half-pound in the bottom every time.' I started tipping it more aggressively, almost vertical, on the next pour. Sure enough, my yield went up and my scrap bin got lighter. Has anyone else had a simple piece of form advice make that big a difference in your pour?

Honestly thought ladle angle was just style until my scrap rate dropped ten percent.

Ever think about how your pour speed changes with that new angle?
