As a bookbinder, I insist on hand-paring leather for all my covers.

Appreciate hearing about that. It's comforting when everyday items age with grace.

Algebra headache: AI tutor bot dropped the ball on a simple equation

Actually those AI tutors are pretty solid most of the time. Sure it messed up once, but human tutors get things wrong too. The bot is free and available at 2am when you're stuck, which beats waiting for class. For simple homework help, it's still a useful tool more often than not.

Warning: Chemical strippers on my oak table sparked a big debate.

Skip the stripper and sand it down by hand instead. You lose that warm color when chemicals eat into the grain, and sanding lets you control the finish better. It takes more time but the results actually look like wood, not plastic.

PSA: I missed Comic-Con again due to ticket bots.

Haydenk80 mentioned the bot problem being way too obvious, but I have to play devil's advocate here. In my experience, blaming bots lets real fans off the hook for not being prepared. Your mileage may vary, but I know people who scored passes just by being online the second sales opened. Take this with a grain of salt, but the ticket system has always been a rush, and bots are just one part of a bigger mess. Sometimes it comes down to luck or having a fast internet connection. Calling it all bots ignores that plenty of humans are also fighting for those same spots.

Hot take: My neighbor hates that I let the hawks hunt in my yard, but it's natural, right?

Look at it from her side though. Those hawks aren't just hunting mice, they're a real problem. What if one goes after her cat or the little dogs that walk by? It's not just nature when it happens in a suburb where people live. Plus, nobody wants to find leftover animal parts in their flower beds. It's kind of disrespectful to invite that into a shared space.
