Talked to a hostel owner in Medellin who said most nomads burn out after 6 months
He told me he sees people come in all excited, then 4 months later they're staring at their laptops in the common area looking dead inside - made me wonder if I should plan shorter stays instead of trying to settle in one place, has anyone else noticed that pattern?

Man, isn't it kind of sad how fast the excitement fades? I've seen that exact thing in a few different spots. People show up ready to conquer the world but just end up grinding away in a coffee shop. I always figured the real burnout comes from trying to do too much, not from being in one place too long. Maybe mixing a few weeks of actual travel with the work weeks would help.

That 4 month mark seems to be the tipping point, I've watched it happen to friends in Lisbon and a few other spots. The initial rush fades and you hit a weird middle ground where you're not really traveling anymore but you're not settled either. Your instinct to mix shorter stays with actual movement might be the smart play, keeps things feeling fresh.

Heard similar from a guy in Chiang Mai who said the 3 month mark is where people start checking out.
