I finally gave up on using a post hole digger for rocky ground.
Last week on a job in Boulder, I was trying to set a line of posts in soil that was half gravel. My old manual digger was just bouncing off. The homeowner, who used to work in construction, came out and said, 'You know, a demo hammer with a clay spade is the only thing that works here.' I rented one for the day and it cut the time per hole from 45 minutes to about 10. Has anyone else found a better tool for that kind of ground?

Wow, I read about that trick somewhere too.

Yeah but where did you read it? Because some of these life hack sites are total garbage, they just make stuff up for clicks. I tried one last week that said you could unclog a sink with baking soda and vinegar, which is complete nonsense for an actual blockage. So now I'm real careful about where the advice comes from. Was it from someone who actually knows what they're doing?

Oh trust me, I've been burned by those garbage life hack sites too. It's wild how much bad advice is out there, you really have to filter through the junk to find anything useful. For the sink trick, it only works if you have a minor slow drain from soap scum, not a real clog. Your mileage may vary but I'd stick with a plumber or a snake for anything serious.
