Remember when we had to hand cut every single plank for a herringbone pattern?
I was cleaning out the garage and found my old miter box from like 15 years ago. Back then, doing a herringbone floor meant marking and cutting each piece one at a time, it took forever. Now, with the digital angle finders and decent chop saws, you can set up a jig and batch cut a whole room's worth in an afternoon. The precision is way better too, no more gappy corners. What's the biggest time-saver you've seen come into the trade?

Man, that sounds brutal. Can you even imagine the patience that took? Makes you appreciate the new tools, right?

Patience? More like a deep, personal grudge against geometry. My old miter box is basically a museum piece for woodworking torture. The real time-saver for me was finally getting a track saw. No more wrestling full sheets of plywood onto a wobbly table saw setup. It just glides down the line and gives you a perfect edge every time. It turned a whole day of cussing and measuring into a twenty minute job.
