Frozen veggies keep my meals cheap despite the fresh food trend
Everyone around me acts like fresh vegetables are a must for good cooking. But where I shop, fresh produce costs have jumped so high it's crazy. I now use frozen mixed vegetables for most of my weeknight dinners. They cook up fine in pasta sauces and one-pot meals. My food budget is happier, and I don't feel like I'm missing out.

Totally! I do the same thing with frozen spinach. It just blends into everything, like curries or scrambled eggs.

Frozen peas and carrots are my go to for fried rice, but I've found the texture of frozen broccoli can get pretty mushy if you're not careful. It's great for soups where it blends in, but for a side dish where you want some bite, fresh broccoli still wins for me. The key is just knowing which frozen veggies work for which type of cooking method. I still buy a mix, but I'm more picky about the bag now.
