I finally took a boiler repair job in Texas and it's making me rethink everything

That whole thing about hotel rooms reminds me of a welding inspector I worked with in Louisiana. He had been on the road for eight years straight, just following the big jobs. The guy made a ton of money, more than anyone else on site. But he told me one day that his back was shot from sleeping in different motel beds every week and his diet was just gas station food. He said all that cash in the bank didn't mean much when he felt broken down all the time. It was a different kind of cost.

My little brother's steady hands during drawer assembly

Can't believe your brother's hands were that steady. Mine shake just thinking about it.

Hung a pegboard and now all my tools are on the floor, great job me

But what if the wall is actually sturdy enough without all that? I've seen plenty of things hung directly on drywall that never fell down. Sometimes people worry too much about perfect anchors when a simple nail will do.

PSA: My scary writing prompt turned into a joke by accident

Hey, your point about mixing tones making laughs is cool, but I'd say you actually flipped the horror genre on its head. That ghost shushing people isn't just funny, it's a fresh take on haunted places. It's not about mixing scary and silly, it's about giving a classic idea a new job. Your group laughed because it was smart and surprising, not by accident. That means you wrote something with a strong point of view, which is hard to do. So yeah, your funny library tale might be better than a straight horror story.

Dull quartz after tumbling, where did I mess up?

What specific grit numbers did you use for each step, and how long did you tumble in the final polish stage? Sometimes with harder stones like quartz, you need to run the polish cycle much longer. Also, how full was your barrel with filler media?
