inSerious question, did anyone else waste money on airport food for years?
The airport food tax is real, it's basically a fee for being too lazy to plan ahead. I finally learned my lesson after paying twelve bucks for a sad bagel that felt like it was made last week. @kim.grace is onto something with the leftovers, my insulated bag is now my most important travel item. It's kind of satisfying to eat a decent meal while watching everyone else line up for that overpriced, dried-out pizza.

inI found a stat about how much coffee shops make on drip coffee and it blew my mind
But you're paying for the space and the vibe too.

inThe guy at the taco cart told me his secret was a $5 bag of dried peppers
Honestly that is such a real moment. Tbh the best cooking tips always come from people just doing their thing every day. My local pho place once told me the key was just charring a whole onion and some ginger under the broiler before the broth, nothing fancy. It totally changed my home attempts. That dried pepper trick makes so much sense for getting that deep flavor without it being too sharp.

inHad to choose between a 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch spacer for a tricky shower door install in a 1920s house. Went with the 3/8. The wall was more out of plumb than I thought.
Honestly, going with the 3/8 inch spacer was probably the wrong call. You said the wall was more out of plumb than you thought. In a really old house, the bigger spacer can sometimes make the door look obviously shimmed and weird. A 1/4 inch gives you less room to hide the error, but it forces you to fix the real problem with the wall first. I mean, you might have just built a bigger flaw into the install to cover a smaller one. Now the whole frame might sit off the tile in a way that catches your eye forever.

inMy 10 year old niece just schooled me on comic book gatekeeping
Getting owned by a ten-year-old is a new low. Time to hit the comic shop before the next family dinner.
